Police find an intoxicated man attempting to enter a home in violation of a protective order

BEDFORD – On Thursday, May 23, 2024, Bedford Police officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Q Street after a report that 54-year-old Danny McCloud was intoxicated and attempting to enter a house.

According to Sgt. Toby Gerkin, officers confirmed there was a protective order preventing McCloud from being at the residence.

When Sgt. Gerkin and Officer Jarrett Tedrow arrived they found a male resident at the front of the home. He was “heavily intoxicated” and was attempting to gain entry into the house by pushing in a window air conditioner. He also kicked and attempted to force open a rear door.

A male said prior to police arriving McCloud had laid down on the back porch and was still currently there.

Sgt. Gerkin and Officer Tedrow went to the back of the home and found McCloud walking through the backyard away from the home.

Police stopped McCloud. Police said he smelled of alcohol. He had suffered a laceration to his nose and face, and his clothing was soiled with blood. The injuries were consistent with McCloud falling.

McCloud told police he was advised in court he could go to the home and retrieve his personal items as long as the female who filed the protective order was not home.

McCloud was transported to IU Health Hospital for a medical evaluation and then to jail on charges of public intoxication, and invasion of privacy with a prior conviction.
