Deputies find meth when they detain a wanted man

BEDFORD – On Wednesday, June 5, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies received information that 54-year-old Kenneth Cole, of Bedford, was staying at a residence on Davis Drive.

Cole was wanted on two felony Monroe County warrants, one for dealing meth.

Officers responded and found Cole, who was detained.

While arresting Cole, officers could smell the odor of marijuana and saw other signs of possible illegal drug activity.

Officers also detained 49-year-old Angela Root of Bedford,

Lawrence County Superior Court I Judge John Plummer issued a search warrant for the home.

During a search of the home, police found 11 grams of meth, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and digital scales.

Cole was detained on the two outstanding warrants. Cole and Root are now facing charges of possession of meth between 10 and 28 grams, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers involved in the investigation included Capt. Harrison Fleetwood, Sgt. Robin Compton, Deputies Davis Miller, Josh Rhoades, Kenton Carter, and Christian James.
