Daniel Thomas Joseph Mulhern Jr., 79, of Mitchell, passed away Monday, June 4, 2024, at his residence.
Born April 27, 1945, to Daniel Thomas Joseph Sr. and Margaret (Fenton) Mulhern of Taunton, Massachusetts, where Dan spent his earliest years. The family moved to Fairfield, Connecticut, where Dan grew up. He excelled in sports and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut, before graduating from Boston College.
A career move brought Dan and his young family to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where his three children grew up. Dan established a very successful company, Welders Services Inc., for over 40 years. In addition to Dan’s business acumen, he fully embraced his love of horses and the Rodeo competition cutting horse event.
Upon Dan’s retirement, he bought a ranch in Wyoming and ranched for ten years before moving to Mitchell, Indiana. He married Denise Elizabeth (Chastain) Redman on February 10, 2018, and she survives. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Denise Mulhern of Mitchell; children, Kelly Mulhern of Venice, Florida, Marcy (Patrick) Molter of Westfield, and Daniel T. J. Mulhern, III of San Francisco, California; stepchildren, Daniel (Autume Williams) Redman of Mitchell, Dana (Erika) Redman of Orfordville, Wisconsin, and Patrick (Amy) Redman of Williams; siblings, Martha Jane (Keith) Chase of Kingston, Massachusetts, Margaret Ellen (Jack) Losh of Duxbury, Massachusetts, and Laurence Fenton (Lynn) Mulhern of Upton, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Corrine Molter, Cole Mulhern, Kylie Redman, Karson Redman, Kaiden Redman, Dane Redman, and William Redman; he loved watching his grandchildren play sports; great-grandchildren, Hunter Hypes, Mya Mulhern, and Zirayah Mulhern; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Jegan Peter and Deacon Dave Reising officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the Catholic Church. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m.
