HELTONVILLE – Lawrence County Police Central Dispatch received a call on Monday, June 10, reporting an unwanted person in the 6000 block of Bartlettsville Road.
As officers were en route, Central Dispatch said the man was now chasing the female caller with a sledgehammer.
Deputies T. Atchinson and Capt. Andrew Phillips and Bailey Duprey responded.
When police arrived, they spoke to the caller, who said she had video of a female driving past her home in a red Chevrolet truck, shouting at her and antagonizing her. She said she watched that same female and a male removing signs she had made and posted with her landlord’s permission.
She also had a video of 29-year-old Cody Reeves holding a sledgehammer in his hands, threatening her.
The landlord also has video footage of the rental property. In that footage, police see the Chevrolet truck with a female driver, with the window rolled down and yelling out the window. The female caller is seen walking down the drive to the roadway with a phone in her hand and appears to be calling the police.
Police then spoke to Reeves and the female driver. Both said the female caller started the dispute. He admitted to snapping at her while holding the sledgehammer. The female driver admitted to taking one of the signs.
The caller did not want to file charges for the theft of the sign.
Reeves was arrested on a charge of intimidation with a deadly weapon.
