BEDFORD – On Friday, June 7th, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Brenten Trueblood was transporting an offender to jail from a prior traffic stop when he noticed 45-year-old Jerry Smith sitting in a vehicle in front of the Jail.
Officer Trueblood knew Smith was wanted on an outstanding warrant on a charge of possession of meth.
Officer Trueblood pulled in front of Smith’s vehicle, instructed Smith to step out, and placed him in handcuffs on the outstanding warrant.
Officer Trueblood then requested Deputy Carter and his canine partner. However, when Smith heard the request, he admitted he had drugs on his person.
Police found two grams of meth down the front of Smith’s pants.
Smith was arrested on the outstanding warrant and a new charge of possession of meth.
