BEDFORD – A Bedford man is facing a charge of intimidation after police say the operations manager of Rural King came to the police department on Saturday, May 4, to report an employee, Wendel Cox, 54, was sending threatening messages to another employee.
The manager said Cox and the man were scheduled together work that day.
The manager showed Officer Kody Emmons the threatening text messages. Below are some of those messages.
On May 3, at 10:07 p.m. Cox sent: “You think i am a joke, I am trying to help you. I am going to carry tomorrow, and put a well placed bullet in your head. I ain’t a joke. I am trying to help you, your against white people. You treat me like white, your stupid, I ain’t white, going to carry, I don’t want
o, but I will put hol”.
At 10:08 p.m. Cox sent: “I am sorry for getting your attention. My stepdaughter, my girlfriend, everyone is scared I am going to shoot you in the face, split your wig. You think I am a punk, you will be dead when you find out.”
At 10:11 p.m. Cox sent: “I ain’t a joke”
A 10:14 p.m. Cox sent: I hope it dont turn to gun fire, I want to roll around wth you. You aint never put your hands on me you bitch n*. Swell up, let’s do this cunt Let’s dance”
At 10:29 p.m. Cox sent: “I will be carrying tomorrow, watch your step.”
At 10:33 p.m. Cox sent: “I will roll around in the grass with you, put fingers in your eyeballs. Let’s get it on. Your a punk bitch”
At 10:35 p.m. Cox sent: “You picked on the wrong white boy. I don’t give a f***. Let’s do it. I bet your scared to come to work. I will meet you in the parking lot, let’s dance you black bitch”
Following these messages, there were multiple messages where Wendel was apologetic and said he was ashamed of what he said.
On May 4 at 3:24 a.m. Cox sent: “I will cone in to face you, I am not a coward. Never meant any
of that, totally against my feelings and nature.”
At 8:45 a.m. Cox sent: “Sorry”
The man receiving the threatening messages never responded to Cox. He came to the Police Department on May 7 at 7:59 a.m. to report receiving the threatening text messages. He admitted he had turned the information to the operational manager at Rural King. The man said he was confused by the text messages and concerned.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Cox’s arrest on a charge of intimidation.
