GROW Lawrence County Advisory Board makes strides towards establishing a community education system

BEDFORD— The GROW Lawrence County Advisory Board has achieved many milestones during its first year. The board, which comprises community members, employers, educators, and Lawrence County Economic Growth Council staff, has developed a vision, mission statement, and goals through feedback.

Goals include:

Regularly engage with employers to stay up to date and be able to communicate the county’s workforce demand.

Maintain a central data hub that provides prioritized and summarized state and local education and workforce metrics, keeping the community informed and ready to make data-driven decisions.

Ensures equity and access by overseeing alignment and function of the Community Education System (metrics, messaging, removing barriers).

Informs and supports high school work-based learning (WBL) initiatives so all students can participate in high-quality WBL before graduation.

Efforts to create a comprehensive approach to improving adult education and workforce development specifically for Lawrence County rely upon involving stakeholders from various sectors and fostering ongoing collaboration with local partners.

Addressing key aspects such as employer relations, program mapping, metric development, and effective communication can strengthen the board’s efforts to advance adult education in Lawrence County.
