“The Heat Wave we will experience now and next week will be extremely dangerous for people
without proper cooling or air conditioning who are at risk, i.e., the elderly, the very young, and those
with medical conditions.” Said Roger Axe, Director Greene County Emergency Management
Agency.
“The most recent forecast points to the hottest days Sunday through Tuesday with a small dip in
temperature on Wednesday, and then the temperature goes back up Thursday. To help these
people, we are asking our churches and fire stations to open cooling centers next week at least
Sunday through Thursday.”
Those who will participate are requested to call Greene County Emergency Management Agency
at 812-384-4127 or greene-jeans@sbcglobal.net.
“We will, in turn, list these centers on our Facebook page as well and notify the media.” Axe
said.
