INDIANA – On Friday, June 14, Chairwoman Anne Hathaway was unanimously re-elected by the Indiana Republican State Committee as National Committeewoman.
At that same meeting, she informed the members of the Indiana Republican State Committee that she would step down as Chairwoman effective upon the election of her successor and that Executive Director Joe Elsener would also step down.
Chairwoman Hathaway has served as the Republican Party Chair for the last ten months on an interim basis and is the first woman to serve in this role. Members of the Indiana Republican State Committee will elect a new chair on June 24, 2024.
“It has truly been my honor to serve the Republican Party in this capacity for the last ten months. When Governor Holcomb asked me to serve as Chairwoman, I was humbled and excited,” said Chairwoman Anne Hathaway. “I have truly enjoyed working with Republicans from all 92 counties to strengthen our grassroots.
“As the Republican National Committeewoman, I am not leaving, and I am just returning to my seat on the committee. I look forward to representing Indiana within the RNC and supporting our grassroots operations across the state as we elect our next President, Governor, and Republicans up and down the ticket.
“From day one, Joe and I made it clear that we would commit to serving through the primary and then transition to new leadership. The timing is right, having just concluded our 2024 State Convention, and I look forward to working with Senator Braun and the members of our Republican State Committee to select our next chair.
“I would like to thank all the members of the Indiana Republican Party for the honor to serve as their Chairwoman, and I would like to once again thank them for everything they do to support our party and candidates.”
