SOUTH CENTRAL INDIANA— Officials at the National Weather Service in Indianapolis warn that this will bring very hot, humid, and dangerous conditions to central and southern Indiana, including Lawrence County.
The heat and humidity is expected to last through the upcoming weekend. Residents can expect daily high temperatures in the low-to-mid 90s, with the heat index approaching 100 degrees during the afternoon.
Although no specific Heat Watches or Heat Warnings have been issued for the state, NWS authorities warn that the conditions may be hazardous for sensitive and vulnerable populations.
Precautions include drinking fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms, keeping out of the sun, and checking up on relatives and neighbors. While outside, residents should wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing and limit strenuous activities to early morning or late evening.
