Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the 100 block of Mundell Estates.

When Deputies Carter, Trueblood, and Porter arrived, they found a woman in distress opening a side door of the home.

Phelix then exited the house, and he had blood on his back.

Phelix was detained and placed in handcuffs. When police questioned him about the blood on his back, he refused to answer their questions.

Police say the woman had bruises and a scratch on her face. She stated Phelix had struck her in the face while they were in the bathroom.

She retaliated and threw a cup toward Phelix that struck the wall. Phelix then hit her again. She said when police arrived, Phelix was attacking her in the laundry room. The woman was unsure how many times Phelix had hit her.

EMS was called to the scene to check on the woman’s injuries.

The woman refused to sign a battery affidavit or file charges.

Phelix was arrested on a charge of domestic battery and transported to jail.
