Good Good Golf Midwest Open comes to Pete Dye Course

FRENCH LICK – What happens when a group of seriously talented golfers, who don’t take themselves seriously, decides to ditch their normal jobs to travel around playing golf against each other and then sharing their matches on YouTube?

The result is Good Good Golf and the concept brings legions of new fans to the game.

The group of 20-somethings is coming to the Pete Dye Course at the French Lick Resort on June 18 to play in the Good Good Golf Midwest Open. The pro-am duo scramble will feature 17 teams playing for a $100,000 prize.

Dave Harner, director of golf operations at French Lick Resort, said about 2,000 tickets were sold as of last week.

Some of the players who will tee off include:

  • Austin Reaves, guard for the Los Angeles Lakers
  • Paige Spiranac, former pro golfer and media personality
  • Rich Beem, winner of the 2002 PGA Championship
  • Marques Brownlee, a tech YouTuber and podcaster

Fans can watch the upcoming tournament live on YouTube and Peacock. This is Good Good’s second televised event, following the Good Good Desert Open in Arizona earlier this year.

Good Good Golf has amassed over 2 million followers. Last year, they played the Pete Dye Course for the first time and called it their new favorite course, posting a video with 775,000 views. In 2021, they inked a partnership with Callaway Golf.

Harner said the broad appeal of Good Good Golf will bring even more exposure to the Pete Dye Course, which consistently ranks among the top courses in the United States. It has been the No. 1 golf course for 14 years and, later this year, will host the Korn Ferry Tour Championship.

Tickets for the Midwest Open are $30 and can be purchased here.

These general tickets also allow fans to access all the holes on the course. In addition to the event action, there will be food trucks, merchandise tents, and drinks for purchase. There will be no parking at the golf course. Those with tickets will take a shuttle from the blue lot at the French Lick Hotel.
