Men sentenced to prison after violating their terms of probation

BEDFORD—Lawrence County Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline sentenced two Bedford men to prison after they violated the terms of their probation.

Joshua Early pleaded guilty to possession of meth between five and ten grams in December 2023 in a negotiated plea deal. He was sentenced in January 2024 to four years in prison, but that term was suspended. He was sentenced to serve 730 days on supervised probation.

Early, 42, committed a new criminal offense on the first day of his probation.

Judge Cline revoked Early’s suspended sentence and sentenced him to 1,450 days in the Indiana Department of Correction.

Judge Cline also sentenced Dalton McCloud, of Bedford, to the Department of Corrections.

McCloud, 26, pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction in December 2023 as part of a negotiated plea deal.

He was sentenced to 735 days in jail. He was given credit for two days served, and 730 days of his sentence was suspended. He was ordered to serve 545 days on supervised probation.

However, after multiple probation violations, Judge Cline revoked McCloud’s probation and sentenced him to serve 720 in prison. He was given credit for 106 days served.
