WASHINGTON— The United Way of Daviess County has teamed up with Daviess Community Hospital and ShipHappens to create a new sharps disposal location behind the Daviess County Medical Clinic at the Northeast 15th Street and Grand Avenue intersection.
There will be a ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
The location is well-lit, and you can drive up next to the bin for easy accessibility and safety. With 24/7 drop-off, you can safely and discreetly dispose of needles.
The benefits of having a sharps disposal bin have been linked to a reduction in communicable diseases for residents, a reduction in the risk of sanitation workers being harmed by pricks, a reduction in improper disposal in the community, such as parks and ditches, a reduction in PPD reports of improper disposal, and decreased risk related to substance misuse.
