Obituary: Steven ‘Steve’ Baker

January 4, 1953 – June 16, 2024

Steven ‘Steve’ Baker, 71, of Springville, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born in Bedford on January 4, 1953, he was the son of Arthur I. and Carole R. (Flynn) Baker. Steve graduated from Shawswick High School and was currently working at Rural King while enjoying semi-retirement. He had been a Boy Scout and became a Scout Master, enjoying mentoring young scouts. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and camping and was a member of the Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. He was of the Pentecostal Faith.

Surviving to cherish Steve’s memory are his two sons, Lance Baker and Landon (Tatum) Baker; one daughter, Breanna Baker; four grandchildren, Braden Baker, Lila, Emmy, and Chase; and several nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jeff Baker.

Funeral services for Steven “Steve” Baker will be at Noon on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with Bro. Keith Thompson is officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
