BEDFORD – A Bedford man is facing domestic battery charges after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to Sugar Hill Addition Road at 6:47 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18. A male reported his ex-boyfriend, 26-year-old Kody Inman, had hit him.
Police say the male caller was sitting in the front seat of a white Chevrolet Silverado in the middle of the roadway. The male had a busted nose, and there was blood all over him and the inside of the truck.
An ambulance was requested to the scene.
Police asked the male where Inman was. He told police Inman was at a home in the 70 block of Sugar Run Road, a dead-end road off Sugar Hill Addition Road.
The male told police he and Inman had been arguing, but it wasn’t physical until Inman reached through the window and punched him in the face. Inman then stormed off.
Police found Inman standing on the porch. He told police that the male came to pick him up, “threw the vehicle into park and removed the keys and began yelling in my face.” He said the other man put his hands on him and started to walk away. He then turned to get some stuff out of the truck. Inman said that is when the other male pushed him, tore one of Inman’s books, and threw it in the truck.
He told police the male then went to reach for him and that is when he punched the man through the truck window.
Inman had no injuries but did have cuts to his knuckles where he had punched the man.
Inman requested to file charges against the other man for pushing him.
Police then learned that both men had been in a fight the day before in Bedford. Bedford Police were investigating that incident and had sent the information to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Officer for possible charges.
Inman was arrested on a charge of domestic battery and transported to jail.
