INDIANA—The IBA Spectrum Awards for the Best in Broadcasting will expand to recognize more radio and television categories in 2024, and IBA members will have more opportunities to win honors for their exceptional work.
Two new radio categories and two new TV categories will be available, encouraging submissions that promote the industry’s overall image, high school sports play-by-play for radio, and TV Multimedia Journalist of the Year.
“This year, we’re moving the Hall of Fame to a standalone event as a luncheon with the Indiana Broadcast Pioneers. This reflects feedback from the past few years, asking that the overall Spectrum Awards program be shortened and sharpened. And recognizing the opportunity to add categories, our board of directors looked at what other states are doing to add two new radio and two new TV awards,” said IBA Executive Director Dave Arland. “And to improve balance, we’re now going to limit submissions to no more than three entries per station in each category.”
The 2024 IBA Spectrum Awards for the Best in Broadcasting will be staged on Tuesday evening, October 15, at The Cabaret in downtown Indianapolis. “The Cabaret is an exceptional venue – perfect for a dinner event celebrating the best in broadcasting in the Hoosier State. Submissions for the Spectrum Awards are welcome beginning Tuesday, June 25, and continuing through the end of July,” Arland said.
