BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested on a warrant after police say he injured a woman during a domestic dispute on May 2, 2024.

Police arrested 34-year-old Robert Quintana on charges of domestic battery, theft, and criminal confinement.

Robert Quintana

According to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Travis Atchison, at 1:15 p.m. on that day, police received a call from a male reporting Quintana was in a dispute with his female neighbor.

Officers responded to the 6000 block of State Road 158. They spoke to the female, who reported being in a verbal fight with Quintana. She said he had shown up at the home wanting to make their relationship work. She told him she was not interested and asked him to leave. He refused to leave and became aggressive. She stated she was going to call the police. He then grabbed her work cell phone and her personal phone. He would not allow her to leave and grabbed her arm and shoved her out the back door onto the deck. He then allegedly got on top of her and held her down. She finally escaped and ran to the neighbor’s house, who called the police.

When she returned to her home, Quintana had left.

Police say the woman had bruising on her arm, around her forearm and hand.

The woman signed a theft and battery affidavit. Quintana had taken the two cell phones and a gold ring valued at $2,500.

Police attempted to contact Quintana by phone. He denied the incident and denied taking the phones and rings. He refused to come to the Sheriff’s Department to speak to officers.

At approximately 3:5 p.m. on May 2, police again contacted Quintana, advising him of the issuance of a protective order. He again refused to meet with officers.

The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, and a warrant was issued for Quintana’s arrest.
