Man causes disturbance at former laundromat fire scene and is arrested

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct Saturday after Bedford Police officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at the former Laundry Village Laundromat on Lincoln Avenue.

Sgt. Toby Gerkin arrived on the scene to Officer Stuart Ratcliff was speaking to 62-year-old James ‘Greg’ Eads, who was visibly animated and yelling.

Sgt. Gerkin told Eads to calm down, but he immediately began talking over him. He was warned multiple times to stop yelling.

Police then spoke to a female who was providing security for Security Pro at the former laundromat site. She told police she called because Eads was trespassing at the secured site.

Police determined Eads was not actually on the property at 515 Lincoln Avenue but on the adjacent property.

Police continued to try to speak to Eads, but he continued to yell and talk over the officer. He was again warned to calm down, or he would be arrested for disorderly conduct.

He finally calmed down and told police he would leave the area. He rode off on his bicycle. But he was again heard screaming from 5th Street and Lincoln Avenue.

Officer Jarrett Tedrow spotted Eads at Shorty’s Bar on 7th Street. He was detained on a charge of disorderly conduct. Eads continued to be loud and threatening not only to officers but also made threats to the security officer, who notified the police about his behavior.
