Shooting in Martinsville leaves teen in critical condition, two others injured, and man behind bars

MARTINSVILLE — A man was arrested following a shooting in Martinsville Saturday night that left a teenager and adult male suffering gunshot wounds and another teen injured.

Martinsville Police Department officers and deputies from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a person shot in the area of South Home Avenue and East South Road around 11:53 p.m.

When police arrived, they found two victims, an adult and a teenage male. Both had suffered gunshot wounds.

The officers aided the victims until Morgan County EMS arrived.

According to police, the adult was in stable condition and was transported via ambulance to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. The teen was in critical condition and was airlifted from the scene to Methodist Hospital.

Another teen who suffered minor injuries from the firearm was treated at the scene.

Martinsville Police officers were able to identify and arrest the shooter, 21-year-old quickly Damien Hines of Martinsville. He is being held in the Morgan County Jail.

This is an ongoing investigation, and the names of the victims are not being released at this time.
