Traffic stop leads to methamphetamine arrests

CLARK CO. – A traffic stop on I-65 led to the arrest of two Clark County women on felony drug charges. 

Around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, Trooper Clay Boley with the Indiana State Police Post Sellersburg’s All Crimes Policing Team conducted a traffic stop on a green Ford Ranger after he witnessed the driver fail to signal multiple lane changes.

The vehicle stopped on I-65 South at the 3.2-mile marker in Clark County. The driver was identified as 63-year-old Sharon L. Mclain of Jeffersonville. The passenger was identified as 48-year-old Tara G. Edwards of Clarksville.

During the traffic stop, Trooper Boley observed indicators of potential criminal activity from the occupants. Trooper Charles Herron arrived to assist with his canine, Atlas, who alerted the vehicle to the possible presence of drugs. 

A search of the vehicle revealed 32 grams of suspected methamphetamine and over 100 various controlled prescription pills.  Both women were arrested and transported to the Clark County jail without incident.

Mclain is facing felony charges of dealing meth over 28 grams, possession of meth over 28 grams, and unlawful possession of a legend drug

Edwards is facing a felony charge of possession of meth.
