NEWBURG— Two people have been arrested in connection to a child abuse investigation in southern Indiana.
The Warrick County Sheriff’s Department says 28-year-old Nina Shepherd and 37-year-old Thomas Burch, both of Newburgh, were arrested in the investigation.
The investigation started last month after child services received information about child abuse taking place at a home on Oak View Court in Newburgh.
Through the investigation, authorities say Burch and Shepherd, who is a foster mother, were abusing and confining the children in Shepherd’s care.
All of the children were removed from the home.
Arrest warrants were issued for Burch and Shepherd.
Burch is facing three felony counts of criminal confinement. Shepherd is facing three counts of domestic battery on children and three counts of child neglect.
Both are being held in the Warrick County Jail. Burch is being held on a $1,000 bond. Shepherd is being held on a $750 bond.
