MITCHELL – A Mitchell woman was arrested after a warrant was issued for her arrest following her involvement in a child custody dispute on March 8, 2024.
According to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Andrew Tillett, on that day, officers were alerted that 31-year-old Dannielle Livingston of Mitchell was refusing to follow a court-ordered visitation agreement to allow the father to see his three children.
The man showed police text messages from Livingston that if he wanted to see the children, he would have to take her to court.
Police contacted Livingston by phone. She admitted there was a court-ordered custody agreement, but she would not let the children go with him. She claimed the male was mentally abusive to the children but yet couldn’t tell police what he was doing to distress the children. She did state the male had made suicidal statements in front of the kids.
She was then asked if she had ever contacted the Department of Child Service or the police about her concerns, and she said no.
Police say she could not provide reasonable concerns about why the children could not visit their father.
Police contacted the Department of Child Services and were informed that there was no reasonable concern for the children’s safety and that a court order had been placed for the father to visit his children.
Police again attempted to contact Livingston, but she refused to answer their calls.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, and a warrant was issued for Livingston’s arrest for interference with custody.
