BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was sentenced to the Indiana Department of Correction after accepting a negotiated plea deal.
Lawrence Superior Court I Judge John Plummer III sentenced 42-year-old Amber Eads to 15 years after she pleaded guilty to a Level 2 felony charge of conspiracy to deal meth. Judge Plummer suspended eight years to supervised probation and two years to electronic monitoring upon her release.
“The Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office is committed to keeping drug dealers off the streets and out of our community,” said Chief Deputy Prosecutor Joshua Scherschel. “The sentence in this case is helping to accomplish that goal and keep our community safe.”
Eads was arrested on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, after Indiana State Trooper Caleb Gavin initiated a traffic stop after catching 39-year-old Jacob Bunch, of Bedford, driving on a suspended driver’s license.
During the traffic stop, the trooper found Eads in possession of meth and cash.
Following the traffic stop, Trooper Garvin applied for and was granted a search warrant for a residence on Indian Creek Road.
Troopers and officers from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, including Sheriff Greg Day, served the search warrant and located three ounces of methamphetamine, additional controlled substances, marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, a handgun, a shotgun, drug paraphernalia, and items associated with dealing drugs.
Bunch was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Jail on charges of dealing and possession of meth, dealing and possession of a controlled substance, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence. At the same time, his driver’s license was suspended with a prior conviction.
Eads faces charges of dealing and possession of meth, dealing and possession of a controlled substance, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Both were transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
Bunch will appear in Lawrence County Superior Court I on August 26 at 1:00 p.m. for a pre-trial conference.
