Bloomington Police warn motorists gas stations are closed and traffic light outages

BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington is currently experiencing lasting effects from Tuesday’s storm.

Bloomington Police Department reports that the city is experiencing power outages in many areas across Monroe County, which have forced the closure of several gas stations.

“You will likely experience extensive wait times to fill your gas tanks,” said Police.

In addition, many street lights in Bloomington are inoperable due to the power outage. Police say motorists should treat inoperable stop lights at these intersections as a four-way stop.

Please exercise caution when navigating through town and avoid downed trees and power lines.

“We expect more inclement weather later today, so if you can, we encourage folks to stay home. Public safety officials are working diligently to respond to calls for service. Please stay safe,” police said.
