Brian Scott Gerkin, 64, of Mitchell, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at his residence.
Born October 17, 1959, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Lloyd and Jessie Colleen (Carroll) Gerkin. He married Peggy Anne Fox on April 20, 1979, and she survives.
Brian retired from General Motors in 2008 as a millwright welder and started his own welding company, Beyond Welding, in 2009. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1978 and is a member of UAW Local 440. Brian enjoyed construction and helped everyone build a house. He loved being around his family and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Gerkin of Mitchell; children, Jacob Scott (Audra) Gerkin of Mitchell, Elizabeth (Bryce) Stephens of Mitchell, and Alexandria “Allie” Gerkin of Mitchell; grandchildren, Madison Gerkin, Ethan Gerkin, Ella Gerkin, Henry Stephens, and Lewis Stephens; and siblings, Julie (Steve) Drake of Lebanon and Steve Gerkin of Mitchell.
His parents and sister, Donna Carol Kendall, preceded him in death.
Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 29, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Keith Mundy officiating. Burial will follow at Mitchell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the service time on Saturday.
