Three Muncie men were arrested after a pursuit on I69

DELAWARE CO. – Troopers from the Indiana State Police Pendleton District arrested three men after a short pursuit along Interstate 69.

On Tuesday, June 25, around 2:30 p.m., Master Trooper Shawn Cosgrove patrolled Interstate 69 near the 237-mile marker when he noticed a silver Ford Ranger traveling over the posted speed limit. Trooper Cosgrove initiated a traffic stop on the truck; however, the driver failed to stop, fleeing from law enforcement.

The pursuit continued on Interstate 69 for approximately four miles until the vehicle left the roadway and crashed at State Road 332 (241-mile marker). Four occupants exited the truck and fled on foot. 

Indiana State Police utilized their helicopter to search for the four individuals, assisted by the Daleville Police Department K9. Three men and one juvenile were taken into custody without further incident. Troopers later released the juvenile into the custody of a relative.

During a preliminary search of the vehicle, troopers discovered marijuana, suspected fentanyl pills, and two Glock handguns.  The suspected fentanyl was seized and sent to the Indiana State Police Laboratory for identification. 

The driver, identified as Darrion Rae Shaun Hill, 19, of Muncie, Indiana, was arrested and preliminarily charged with resisting arrest with a vehicle, possession of marijuana, resisting law enforcement and driving while his driver’s license was suspended with a prior conviction

Troopers identified the adult passengers as Adrian Jarell Wright, 24, of Muncie, and Marquese Bell, 28, of Muncie.  Further investigation determined that Adrian Jarell Wright had six active warrants out of Delaware County.

Wright was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, resisting law enforcement, and on his outstanding warrants.

Bell is facing charges of possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.

Trooper Cosgrove was assisted in this investigation by other members of the Indiana State Police, Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, Daleville Police Department, Eaton Police Department, and the Gaston Police Department.
