Little League District Tournament kicks off this weekend

LAWRENCE COUNTY—Little League district play begins this weekend, and the District 12 team will represent Lawrence County in the tournament. Kids from all over the area have come together to vie for a spot in regional play.

Coach Noah Browning

“We have a great group of players this year that are excited about the opportunity to represent their community in the Little League District Tourney,” said Coach Noah Browning. “We have a solid 11 players on the roster that bring a lot of skill and attributes to the team. Our goal is simple:

  1. Play as hard as we can on every pitch
  2. Be confident in all aspects of the game
  3. Win the district championship

“We will dedicate this year’s district tournament run in memory of Hunter Myers. Hunter was a former district player who was unfortunately taken from this earth too soon.” Browning added. “However, he left behind a big legacy, which included his love for baseball. Hunter wore #9, and this year, he will be represented by a close friend of the family and current player, Maddox Sears.”

Hunter Myers

Former team coach Shawn Nikirk had this to say about Myers, “Hunter always led by example and was the hardest worker on the team. He gave 110% every time he was out there”
