Richard Lee Doan, 71, of Bedford, Indiana, passed away on July 6, 2024. Born January 28, 1953, in Salem, Indiana, to Carl Golson and Mavis Imogene Hammond Doan. He married Nina Harrell on June 20, 2015.
Richard was a Hillcrest Christian Church member in Bedford and a West Washington High School graduate in 1971. Richard worked for over 30 years and retired as a supervisor at the Indiana Department of Transportation, Paoli Subdistrict. He was a member of the American Patriot Lodge No. 750 F&AM in Oolitic.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Richard are his wife, Nina Doan; sister, Susan (Jan Gresham) Doan; nieces, Sarah (John) Kitchens and Diane Hammond; great nieces and nephews, Ella Kitchens, Zach Kitchens, Wynston Kitchens, and Andrew Hammond; and numerous friends and associates.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, William Fred Harrell.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Christian Church, 1130 Hillcrest Road, Bedford, IN 47421, with Pastor Charlie Scott and Pastor Jimmy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Port Williams Cemetary. Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Christian Church on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Masonic rites will be held at the church on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
Arrangements for Richard Lee Doan have been entrusted to the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, Bedford, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Hillcrest Christian Church or the Hardinsburg Volunteer Fire Department.
