MARTINSVILLE—The Bedford Little League team is the district champion! The boys performed amazingly Wednesday evening to beat Greenwood Little League 8-3 and win Bedford’s fourth consecutive title.
The game started strong for Bedford, as Braylon Bailey-Tuell tripled in his first at-bat in the bottom of the first inning. Bear Browning followed with a single, scoring one run, and Levi Thompson added a single that brought in two more runs.
Bedford extended their lead with three runs in the bottom of the second inning, thanks to RBI singles from Maddox Sears and Reid Nikirk.
Bear Browning earned the win for Bedford, allowing just two hits and three runs over five and one-third innings while striking out eight and walking four. Maddox Sears closed out the game, securing the final two outs.
Reid Nikirk led Bedford at the plate, going 2-for-2. Bedford’s defense was flawless, with no errors in the field. Levi Thompson had the most chances in the field with six.
“I couldn’t be more proud of this group. They work hard, are focused, and play quality baseball. All 11 players contribute big up and down the lineup.” said Coach Noah Browning, “They are all great teammates, and they’ve earned their title as District 12 Champions! NOW LET’S GO WIN STATE!”
Next, Bedford Little League will travel to District 8, hosted by Lebanon Little League, to compete against the District 8 winner on July 18th at 3 PM. The Bedford All Stars now move on to play for a State Title.
