Bedford Utilities is hiring a Water Plant Operator

BEDFORD – The City of Bedford’s Utilities Department seeks a qualified Water Plant Operator to join their team. This position is ideal for a candidate passionate about water treatment and ensuring the community receives clean and safe drinking water.

The Water Plant Operator will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the water treatment plant. This includes operating the plant to produce clean water, monitoring plant operations, making necessary adjustments, and performing water quality tests. Additionally, the role involves maintaining and repairing plant equipment, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations, and responding to emergencies.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess a strong aptitude for math and chemistry. A valid Indiana Driver’s License with a good driving record is required. The most qualified candidate will hold an IDEM Water Plant Certification License or will be able to obtain this certification and license within the specified timeframe. The certification process includes three years of acceptable experience at a water treatment plant and passing the relevant State exam.

Bedford Utilities offers a competitive salary of $22.73 per hour.
