Seymour teens can learn lifesaving skills at Rule the Road Event

SEYMOUR – Calling all Seymour teens! This Saturday, July 13th, the Seymour Police Department is teaming up with Rule the Road to offer a free program designed to equip young drivers with the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe on the road.

The event will be held at Seymour High School from 10am to 4pm, offering teens aged 15-18 a unique learning experience that goes beyond the basics of driver’s education. Led by certified emergency vehicle operators, Rule the Road provides instruction on vehicle safety, defensive driving techniques, and more.

Throughout the program, participants will gain valuable knowledge on crucial aspects of safe driving. This includes learning how to perform proper vehicle maintenance checks and identify potential hazards, ensuring their car is in top condition. They will also be introduced to defensive driving techniques, empowering them to anticipate and avoid dangerous situations on the road. The program will address the serious risks of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, emphasizing the importance of responsible driving. Additionally, participants will gain valuable skills in blind spot recognition, proper seat belt use, and controlled braking and evasive maneuvering techniques.
