Eric Dain Buffington, 48, of Mitchell, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2024, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bedford, Indiana, surrounded by family.
Eric Buffington, the son of Terry and Wanda, was born September 15, 1975. He graduated from Mitchell High School and received his associate degree in Computer Science from Ivy Tech.
Eric was a lover of many things. He loved nature and appreciated it. He took every opportunity to be outside: hiking, swimming, and bonfires (or weenie roasts). He was a brilliant man who devoted himself to the relentless pursuit of knowledge. He loved to read. He thoroughly enjoyed being a substitute teacher for Mitchell Community Schools, where the children called him “Mr. B.” His love language was well known as a love for music, and he loved 80s rock. He was known as the grill master to his family and loved to cook. He loved all animals and was often seen with a cat on his lap.
He was a kind man with a big heart for his family. Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Lindsie (Andrew) Tillett of Bedford, Indiana, and Kaleb (LaShona) Buffington of Springville, Indiana; Parents, Terry and Wanda Buffington of Mitchell, Indiana; significant other, Lou Ann Kristan; Brother, Darrin (Mayya) Buffington of Fishers, Indiana; sister, Dara (Donald) Buffington of Carmel, Indiana; five grandchildren, Peyten, Samara, Braysen, Alex and Kameron; and one niece, Mirabella Buffington.
Eric was preceded in death by his sister, Tracy Dawn Buffington, and his nephew Braden Wilson.
Funeral services for Eric Dain Buffington will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford, with Kevin Naillieux and Kenion Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell City Cemetery in Mitchell, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m., at Ferguson-Lee Chapel in Bedford, Indiana.
