BLOOMINGTON— Today, the Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Milestone Contractors will close North Smith Road and the State Road 46 intersection after an extended delay due to utility relocation work.
This contract was awarded to Milestone Contractors in May 2023.
Motorists traveling east and westbound S.R. 46 cannot turn onto North Smith Road until late August, weather permitting. Local access for businesses in the area will be maintained. The sidewalk will be closed at the approach while work is in progress.
During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route, which follows S.R. 46 westbound to the East State Rd 46 Bypass to S.R. 45 to North Smith Road.
INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, be cautious, and avoid distractions when traveling near work zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
