Bedford Police investigate distribution of white supremacy materials

BEDFORD – The Bedford Police Department is investigating the distribution of white supremacist materials in the community.

According to a statement released by the police department, residents have reported encountering pamphlets promoting white supremacy ideology left in their yards by individuals driving a small white passenger car.

“We understand that many residents find this material disturbing,” the statement reads. “However, we are also mindful of the protections the First Amendment provides.”

The police department is currently trying to determine if the pamphlets are being placed in mailboxes, which could constitute a federal crime.

Detectives are actively investigating the matter and are seeking the public’s assistance.

“If you have any information about this activity, such as doorbell camera footage, we urge you to submit a tip on our website at www.bedfordpolicedepartment.com or call us at 812-275-3311,” the statement concludes.
