Ivy Tech is offering free Certified Clinical Medical Assisting training in Bedford

BEDFORD – Ivy Tech Community College’s Bloomington campus is offering a free Certified Clinical Medical Assisting (CCMA) training course.

The 16-week class will be held July 23 through October 31 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the North Lawrence Career Center in Bedford. A grant from IU Health will pay for the training course and certification exam.

The CCMA skills training course is designed to quickly prepare students for work as professionals in multiple healthcare settings. Medical assistants with a clinical background perform various tasks, including administering medications and minor procedures, performing an electrocardiogram (EKG), obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients, and performing other related tasks.

The course includes in-person instruction and a certification exam administered by the National Health Career Association (NHA). In addition to preparing students for entry-level clinical medical assisting jobs, it is also ideal for students interested in pursuing a future career as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or nurse (LPN/RN).
