Lawrence County Commissioners discuss paving and bridge work

BEDFORD – The Lawrence County Commissioners discussed Tuesday morning’s paving and bridge works.

The weather today has delayed paving crews. Paving was scheduled for Spice Valley Road today.

Here are the roads to be paved:

Palestine Road

  • Palestine Road
  • Buddha Bypass Road
  • Erie Church Road
  • Roberts Road
  • Hayes Road

Signage will be in place.

Work will begin on rejuvenating some county roads, weather permitting.

An asphalt rejuvenator penetrates well below the surface to chemically revitalize and protect the asphalt binder by replacing the tars and oils lost due to oxidation. This process also seals the pavement against air, water, and chemical contaminants, thereby slowing oxidation and deterioration, which extends the pavement’s effective service life.

The commissioners accepted the bid from Rejuvenation Technologies for $285,042.49

Work continues on Bridge 150 on Mill Creek Road.

Bridge 150 is a continuous encased steel beam bridge constructed around 1930-1935

The Lawrence County Commissioner approved a contract with CLR for $2.6 million to replace Bridge 150. The county will pay $319,536.10.

Crews are finishing work on the approaches and still need to place a guardrail on each side of the bridge.

“We have until August 20th to finish the bridge, ” Commissioner President Wally Branham added.
