Man arrested after violating protective order

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested after violating a protective order.

Police arrested Ronald Phelix, 47, on a charge of invasion of privacy.

According to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Kenton Carter, he conducted a traffic stop on Saturday, July 6, in the 200 block of Salem Road. He found Phelix in the vehicle with a female, violating the protective order.

Before the traffic stop, Deputy Carter had entered a gas station in the 6000 block of US 50 and spotted Phelix with the woman. When he returned to his patrol car, he confirmed that the protective order was still in place.

Phelix had been arrested on a domestic battery charge involving the female, resulting in a protective order by Lawrence County Superior Court I Judge John Plummer III.

Phelix was detained and transported to jail.
