BEDFORD – A Springville woman was arrested on drug charges on Tuesday, July 9, after an Indiana State Trooper stopped her vehicle for a headlight not working.

According to Trooper Burris, he was parked in the median of State Road 37 near 5th Street when a northbound 2003 blue GMC Envoy passed him with only one working headlight.

Maggard was a passenger in the vehicle. While speaking with Maggard, Trooper Burris smelled the odor of marijuana. She admitted there was marijuana in the glove box. Trooper Burris found a glass jar containing a baggy of marijuana. He also found a glass smoking device and a metal grinder in the center console—another glass smoking device containing crystal meth in the passenger door compartment wrapped in a tie-dyed cloth. Maggard said the fabric was her, but the pipe was not.

Maggard was detained and transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
