MONROE CO. – Monroe County officials have hired a private contractor to help with tree debris pickup after the June 25th storm from residents who live within the county jurisdiction.
On Friday, July 28th, the county activated an online form that county residents could fill out to request debris pickup. In addition to the form submissions, the county publicized a schedule for impacted Townships.
Following the schedule, the contractor picked up debris within Perry Township on July 8th. It has been determined that the amount of debris has overwhelmed the county’s resources, causing a delay in the pickups. County officials are working on getting an updated Township schedule together with new dates. Once the schedule is finalized, it will be provided to local media and posted on the Monroe County, Indiana website.
Due to many requests, the county has reached the maximum number of pickup requests that our resources will allow. As of Wednesday, July 17th, the county can no longer take debris pickup requests.
For the residents who have already requested debris pickups, their requests have been received
and provided to the contractor.
Due to the amount of debris, the contractor is still working through Perry Township.
The county’s focus will be picking up the debris from the residents who submitted a request and the Townships following the schedule.
Updates will be provided if resources and funding sources change as the county proceeds with this contract.
