Intersection improvement work continues at State Road 45/46 and Stonelake Drive in Bloomington

MONROE COUNTY— Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Crider and Crider, Inc. is scheduled to open the new Stonelake Drive entrance off State Road 45/46 on or after the evening of Monday, July 22. Motorists accessing Arlington Heights Elementary School, KP Pharmaceutical Technology, or the North Stonelake Drive Circle homes should begin utilizing the new Stonelake Drive entrance.

On or after Tuesday, July 23, crews plan to begin paving operations on the existing West Stonelake Drive entrance to westbound S.R. 45/46.

Weather permitting, work is expected to take up to two days. During this time, motorists accessing the Super 8, Quality Inn, or One World Commissary will be required to use the new Stonelake Drive entrance, as the existing West Stonelake entrance will be closed.

Beginning on or after Thursday, July 25, crews will close West Stonelake Drive between Rappel Avenue and North Stonelake Drive for additional paving operations. Motorists accessing Super 8, Quality Inn, or One World Commissary can resume using the existing West Stone Lake entrance throughout the closure, which is expected to take up to 11 days, weather permitting.

Lane closures along S.R. 45/46 are expected to remain in place through November 2024, weather permitting. This project is part of a $9.5 million contract awarded to Crider and Crider in February 2024 and is currently scheduled for overall completion in late July 2025. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling near work zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
