Arrest made after Indiana State Police investigate interstate shooting on I-80/94

LAKE CO.- Tuesday morning, detectives with the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division Lowell Post and officers with the U.S. Marshal’s Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force served an arrest warrant in the 7000 block of Birch Ave. in Hammond, IN. 

Arrested was Darrell A. Graham, 35, from Chicago, IL.  Graham was arrested without incident. This arrest was a result of an extensive investigation into the interstate shooting that occurred on June 3, 2024, along I-80/94 in Hammond, IN. 

In that shooting, a juvenile sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to their lower extremities.

Graham is being charged with the following offenses:

  1. Attempted Murder- Level 1 Felony (2 counts)
  2. Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury to a Person less than 14 Years Old- Level 3 Felony
  3. Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon- Level 5 Felony
  4. Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury- Level 5 Felony
  5. Attempted Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon- Level 5 Felony
  6. Criminal Recklessness- Level 6 Felony (2 counts)

Graham is being held at the Lake County Jail.

The investigation began when troopers were dispatched to the 7000 block of Madison St. in Hammond to investigate a report of a shooting that had occurred on I-80/94 near Calumet Avenue. 

A juvenile had sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot injury as a result of a road rage incident that had taken place in the construction zone just east of the Indiana/Illinois state line.

The Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and actively began working on this investigation.
