BLOOMINGTON—The City of Bloomington’s Planning and Transportation Department is asking residents for feedback on initial safety and improvement concepts for Indiana Avenue.
This initiative comes in response to concerns raised through a community survey, which gathered input from about 250 people about improving Indiana Avenue. According to the study, only 43% of residents feel safe along the Indiana Avenue corridor, and less than 20% of bicyclists feel safe.
The project aims to address these safety concerns through two proposed concepts:
- Convert one motor vehicle lane into a protected bike lane
- Convert the road from East Atwater Avenue through East 10th Street into a two-way street
Residents can complete a feedback form regarding these proposed concepts via an online survey at bton.in/inave. The survey will remain open until Sun, Aug. 4.
The third public meeting for further design review and feedback will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at the Sample Gates.
