BEDFORD- The Bedford Recreation Foundation (BRF) is looking for volunteers for the upcoming Claude Akins Memorial Golf Classic on 8/31 and 9/1 this year. You can volunteer for one day or both, with the preferred shifts being 7 am-1 pm and 1 pm-7 pm. However, partial shifts are also an option.
The tournament hosts four rounds of play and over 600 golfers. It is a great way to get exposure for networking purposes and an enjoyable time for those just wanting to give a little back to the community and have some fun. The good news is that no golf experience is required. The board is looking for volunteers to help on and off the course. Volunteers are needed to hole sit, manage contests, help serve and maintain the concession and refreshment area, or perform other duties.
Proceeds from the event go to the Akins Scholarship and the Bedford Recreation Foundation Scholarship, given every year to a graduating senior at Bedford North Lawrence High School, as well as many projects involving recreation and improvements.
The Bedford Recreation Foundation ensures local leisure facilities and programs are maintained to the highest standard. The BRF board comprises President Tom Elliott, Claude Akins Golf Classic Chairman Joe Elliott, Misty Adams, Noah Browning, Holly Davis, Jimmy Jones, and Treasure Jesse McKee.
All volunteers are welcome, and the requirements are minimal. Anyone interested can contact Noah Browning at 812-583-8286 for more details. Text is preferable for a quick response.
