Salem man dies after falling from quarry cliff in Sparksville

SPARKSVILLE – A 20-year-old Salem man died in a fall at an abandoned quarry in Sparksville on Wednesday, July 17.

According to Jackson County Sheriff Rick Meyer, police received a report of a man falling off a cliff in the 10000 block of West County Road 765 South near Sparksville around 6:00 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they found Jayden Clark had died from the fall.

“He was walking around an old abandoned quarry and apparently got too close to the edge of the quarry and fell approximately 50-75 feet,” Sheriff Meyer reported.

An autopsy was performed at Schneck Medical Center on Thursday.

Assisting in the investigation were the Carr Township Fire Department, Brownstown Fire Department., Jackson County Emergency Medical Service, Medora Police Department., and Jackson County Coroner Miko McRoy.
