Culture Crawl showcased local artists through interactive displays in Downtown Bedford

BEDFORD- The Bedford Indiana Culture Crawl is an annual event showcasing local arts, crafts, music, and food. Participants explore downtown Bedford, enjoying live performances, unique shops, and historical sites. It’s a vibrant celebration of community spirit, creativity, and local heritage, attracting residents and visitors alike for a memorable cultural experience.

The Bedford Public Library hosted several activities.

The Culture Crawl kicked off at the Bedford Public Library, where you received your complimentary map and “passport” for the event. If you made it to all the locations on the map and got your passport stamped, the Library had a special gift for you for completing the Crawl. There were numerous activities at the library, including caricature drawings, a pottery-making display, dancing, and an interactive sand art display that everyone was encouraged to help color.

After securing your passport and having a map in hand, your journey is self-led, with many wonderful sights and sounds along the way. The Downtown Depot, Wiley Art Gallery, StoneGate Arts and Education Center, Lawrence County History Museum, Bedford Masonic Lodge #14, Harp Commons, and First Christian Church were the stops to take in the cultural richness and vibrant art on display.

“It’s a nice way of highlighting the different arts and artists in our community,” said Linda Henderson, Executive Director of StoneGate Arts and Education Center. The event is about “bringing people out to historic downtown and showing what we have to offer.”

Community participation was encouraged, with many exhibits set up to make your own piece and maybe learn about a new medium or local artist.

Purdue Extension of Lawrence County brought out a unique “Spin Art” bike that was a hit.

The 2nd Annual Culture Crawl was a smashing success thanks to all who participated and gave their time to make the event one to remember. The annual celebration of our art and culture is something to return to year after year, and thank you to all those who make it possible.
