BEDFORD- On July 17, at approximately 1:15 a.m. ISP Trooper Jesse Crane was dispatched to a home in the 500 block of Sunny Acres Drive in Bedford on a report of trespassing. The property owner called about a man she knew as “Ian” being on her property without permission. There was a gate to the driveway, and no trespassing signs were posted prominently. The male was told to leave the property in early July when the owner evicted another woman. Trooper Crane had been to the address earlier in the evening for the same complaint but could not locate the male.
Once a backup officer arrived, they began searching the area for the man. Officers observed a camper with a door closed that they had noted was open a few minutes earlier. The camper was surrounded, and the man was given commands to come out. After several commands, the man exited the camper and was placed in handcuffs. The man identified himself as Joseph Gladwell, 33, Cincinnati, OH.
Gladwell claimed he was allowed to be on the property but could not say who permitted him. The officers asked Gladwell about the motorcycle he rides on and off the property, and he denied having any bike other than the one he rode there, and he pointed to a 2007 Yamaha. Gladwell was told he was spotted on a trail camera on the motorcycle, but he denied it. Officers noticed another motorcycle in the field and investigated. When the VIN numbers were run on the two bikes, they returned as stolen from Monroe County.
Joseph Gladwell was arrested on the following charges:
- Theft of a motor vehicle x2
- Criminal trespass
