COLUMBUS — A Columbus teenager died in a vehicle accident at 1:19 a.m. Sunday after Columbus Police officers rushed to the scene on a report of a car fire.
Bartholomew County Deputy Coroner Charlie Deweese pronounced 17-year-old Thomas Miguel DeLaCruz, of Columbus, dead at the scene on County Road 400 North near Tinkey Bridge, east of US 31.
When officers arrived, they found a crashed vehicle and the body of DeLaCruz.
The coroner pronounced DeLaCruz dead at the scene. He died from massive traumatic injuries suffered in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
