Juvenile arrested on an attempted murder charge

PERRY CO. – On Saturday, July 27, a dispute between two groups of juveniles resulted in the arrest of a juvenile male from Kentucky on a charge of attempted murder and several other felony offenses.

Sometime around 8:00 p.m., the Perry County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to Rainbow Lake in Derby, Indiana, after a report of shots fired.

During the investigation, it was discovered that two individuals had suffered injuries from gunshots fired at Rainbow Lake. A third individual suffered minor injuries from broken glass.

Shortly after, the Perry County Sheriff’s deputies located two vehicles that were involved in the shooting leaving the area.

A male juvenile was arrested on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, battery with a deadly weapon, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, criminal recklessness, and pointing a fire. He is also facing misdemeanor charges of dealing and possession of marijuana and was transported to the Perry County Jail. The male was later transported to a juvenile facility.

The Indiana State Police were contacted for the investigation into the shooting.

Two juveniles were transported to area hospitals for their injuries.

This case is still under investigation. No names are being released because most of the individuals involved are juveniles.
