BEDFORD – For over a decade, Bertha’s Mission has been a steadfast source of support for Lawrence County residents facing food insecurity. Founded in 2013 by a group of compassionate community members, the organization is named in honor of Bertha Sterling, a local woman renowned for her generosity.
Located at 1001 Lincoln Avenue in Bedford, Indiana, Bertha’s Mission is open Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and serves hot meals between 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Beyond providing daily meals, Bertha’s Mission extends its aid through weekly food boxes and by offering free holiday meals during Easter and Thanksgiving. The organization’s impact is magnified by the dedicated volunteers contributing their time and efforts to fulfill the mission.
Bertha’s Mission is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization reliant on the community’s generosity. Donations are tax-deductible and instrumental in sustaining its vital services.
The organization’s annual “Uncover Hunger” fundraiser is scheduled for Friday, September 13, 2024, at Bedford First Church of God. This event offers opportunities for individuals and businesses to support the cause through table hosting or sponsorships.
Bertha’s Mission’s annual “Uncover Hunger” fundraiser is a crucial event dedicated to raising awareness and essential funds to support the organization’s mission of providing food and assistance to those in need. This year’s event will take place on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Bedford First Church of God, commencing at 6:00 p.m.
Two primary ways to contribute to the event’s success are to become a table host or a sponsor. Table hosts can show their support without financial obligation by simply filling their tables with guests. Table hosts will receive well-deserved recognition during the event.
For those seeking a more substantial involvement, becoming a sponsor offers various levels of support starting at $200. Sponsors will be recognized on a banner prominently displayed at the “Uncover Hunger” event and other Bertha’s Mission events throughout the year. To ensure inclusion on the banner, sponsorships must be confirmed by September 3, 2024. You can fill out a sponsorship form here.
By attending the event, hosting a table, or becoming a sponsor, you’re making a tangible difference in the lives of community members facing food insecurity.
